Ranji Trophy 2025: Mumbai skipper Ajinkya Rahane performed brilliantly during the Ranji Trophy Quarterfinal against Haryana by scoring a hundred during the second innings on Tuesday. He had stayed unbeaten on 88 runs and brought up his 29th first-class hundred in the first session.

This was his 200th first-class match, and the veteran batter achieved this feat in style and helped the team to qualify for the semifinals. The reigning champions are currently leading by more than 300 runs, but Anuj Thakarai then dismissed Rahane for 108 runs. He has now scored 41 first-class hundreds, which includes 12 in the longest format. He is also inching closer to achieving the milestone of scoring 14000 runs in this format.

He had smashed 13 fours in his knock of 108 runs, and it was also his first hundred during the ongoing domestic tournament. He also stitched a 129-run partnership with India's T20I skipper, Suryakumar Yadav, who was then dismissed after scoring 70 runs.

Star all-rounder Shivam Dube scored a gritty knock of 48 runs as Mumbai's top order finally rose to the occasion after suffering a collapse during the first innings. Rahane's gritty knock of 31 runs was the only silver lining, as the team depended on Shams Mulani and Tanuj Kotian, who helped the team bounce back after they were reeling at 113/7 and posted a target of 315 runs.

As far as Mumbai's bowling lineup is concerned, Shardul Thakur took six wickets and gave Haryana a hard time, as they went from 247/4 to 301 all out and were trailing by 14 runs during the first innings.

RAHANE IN FINE FORM

Rahane has scored 437 runs after playing in 12 innings during the ongoing tournament, and that also includes a hundred and two half-centuries. Rahane, who hasn't played in the longest format for the country since July 2023, has played consistently in the domestic circuit. He also performed brilliantly during the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament, where he scored 469 runs after playing in nine matches at a staggering average of 58.62 and a strike rate of 164.56.

Rahane, who played for CSK during IPL 2024 and 2024, will now be representing KKR in the upcoming season, which will begin on 21 March.
