RCB-W vs GG-W, WPL 2025: Gujarat Giants women won the toss and opted to bowl first against Royal Challengers Bengaluru women in match 12 of the Women's Premier League 2025 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Thursday.
Both teams will be heading into the match on the back of defeats in their respective previous fixtures. While RCB lost their last game against UP Warriorz in the WPL's first-ever Super Over, Gujarat suffered a 6-wicket defeat against Delhi Capitals.
RCB currently are placed third in the WPL 2025 points table with two wins and four points under their belt whereas Gujarat stand last as they have managed just one win in the tournament so far.
Gujarat have made just one change in their side as Dayalan Hemalatha replaced Simran Shaikh in the playing XI. Skipper Ashleigh Gardner talked about the plans they want to execute but haven't been able to do it so far which has turned their tournament in a disappointing campaign so far.
"We are going to bowl first. Chasing seems to be easier throughout this competition. Hopefully, we'll be able to take early wickets and then be able to chase down the runs. We spoke about the powerplay, that's probably the elephant in the room. We need to capitalize on that with the bat. The bowlers have done a reasonable job. We haven't had many runs to work with," Gardner said at the toss.
On the other hand, RCB captain Smriti Mandhana confirmed that Prema Rawat made her way back to the side and replaced Ekta Bisht.
"We would have loved to chase as well. We've been really close in the last two matches while defending. Hopefully, we can put up a good total. It's very hard to lose close games. As a captain, you'd want to lose close games than one-sided because you know that you are not that far away. A little bit of a roller-coaster ride in the last two games for us but all the girls are calm," Mandhana said at the toss.
