Indian captain Rohit Sharma expressed his take on the high-octane clash against arch-rivals Pakistan in the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025.

Rohit said that he is not thinking too much about any specific match. While the Champions Trophy is scheduled to kick off on February 19, India and Pakistan will square off in a repeat of the 2017 Champions Trophy final at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on February 23.

The Men in Blue will be aiming to execute revenge for the 180-run defeat in the last edition’s final and settle the scores.

"I think in the past two or three years, I've spoken a lot about that (India vs Pakistan) game. It's just a game for us. We will try and do what is required for any cricket team to do on that particular day. We just want to show up there and show up well," Rohit said on Saturday during the Nanam Awards in Mumbai.

Notably, India have a remarkable record against Pakistan in the ODI World Cup history, winning all of their clashes. However, in the Champions Trophy, Pakistan has won three out of five matches played so far against India.

Rohit was a key member of the Indian team that won the Champions Trophy in 2013 under MS Dhoni's captaincy.

The veteran batter is looking forward to winning another ICC title after ending the 11-year-long wait for the ICC trophy in June 2024.

"The ICC Trophy, as we know, comes every year now. So, there’s no time for you to take the foot off the pedal. You always want to be ready for that challenge. We recently finished the T20 World Cup, which was superb for us. Now, we look forward to another one."

"Everyone’s getting prepared in their own fashion. A lot of the guys are playing domestic cricket, and a lot of guys are playing international cricket as well. So, yeah, when the time comes, it’s all about just getting your mind right and focusing on what lies ahead," he added.

India will next be in action in a three-match ODI series against England at home which will work as a preparatory assignment for the Champions Trophy.

The series opener is scheduled to take place at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur on February 6, and Cuttack and Ahmedabad will host the next two matches on February 9 and 12.
