Rohit Sharma is ready to step into a completely new role, with the Indian cricket star set to make his television debut soon. A teaser featuring the former India captain was released on Friday, giving fans a first glimpse of the project and creating plenty of buzz online. The makers have not announced the show’s title yet, but more information is expected to be shared soon on Sony Entertainment Television and Sony LIV.

While preparing for his TV debut, Rohit is also enjoying a strong IPL 2026 season with the Mumbai Indians (MI). The senior opener has looked in great touch so far, scoring 221 runs in five matches. He has maintained an average of 55.25 along with a strike rate of 174.01. His season already includes two fifties, with 84 being his highest score. Soon after the video, Social media started reacting to Rohit's television debut.

Rohit Sharma's cricketing career

Since making his international debut in 2007, Rohit has grown into one of the biggest names in Indian cricket. Across formats, he has scored more than 20,000 runs in over 500 matches for India. His record includes 50 international centuries and 111 half-centuries.

Rohit is also one of the most successful captains to lead India. He led India to the T20 World Cup title in 2024, ICC Champions Trophy in 2025, and has been part of multiple ICC trophy-winning campaigns during his career.

In T20 Internationals, he remains India’s highest run-scorer with 4,231 runs from 159 matches. During his T20I career, he scored five centuries and 32 fifties before retiring from the format after India’s World Cup triumph in 2024.

He has also represented India in 67 Test matches and scored 4,301 runs, including 12 hundreds. His highest score in Test cricket is 212.

Currently, Rohit, who already retired from Tests and T20Is, is focusing on ODI cricket as he prepares for the 2027 World Cup, which will take place in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. Alongside his performances, fans have also noticed his impressive fitness transformation in recent years.

In ODIs, Rohit has scored 11,577 runs in 282 matches, including 33 centuries and 61 fifties. He still holds the record for the highest individual ODI score of 264, and he remains the only batter to score three double centuries in the format.

Rohit’s IPL journey has been equally successful. He is currently the second-highest run-scorer in IPL history with 7,267 runs from 277 matches. As captain, he guided the Mumbai Indians to five IPL titles, which is the joint most in the history of the tournament.
