RR vs CSK Highlights, IPL 2023: Sanju Samson's Rajasthan Royals Defeat Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings By 32 Runs

Spirited bowling helped Rajasthan Royals to defeat Chennai Super Kings by 32 runs in Jaipur on Thursday night. 

For RR, Adam Zampa scalped three wickets while R Ashwin picked two scalps to restrict Chennai Super Kings to 170/6 in 20 overs.

Just nine runs from Jason Holder's over as he stick to outside off stumps length and restricted Dube and Jadeja from playing big shots. Clearly, bowlers have led Rajasthan back into the game tonight. 

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) 166/5 after 19 overs.

The required run rate has skyrocketed to over 20 as CSK need 46 from 12 balls. Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja are in the middle but Rajasthan bowlers are not making any mistake in the crunch situation. 

What a perfect over from Sandeep Sharma as he only leaks four runs in it. Combination of yorkers and length balls to keep Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja at bay. CSK need 74 runs in the last four overs.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) 135/5 after 16 overs. 

Another wicket to the spinner as Adam Zampa removes Moeen Ali for 23 to break the vital partnership between him and Dube for the fifth wicket. 12 runs from the over as Chennai need 78 runs from 30 balls.

Massive over for Chennai as Shivam Dube smashes two consecutive sixes off Ashwin and makes it big. 15 runs from the over as CSK are chasing 203.

Ashwin has put Rajasthan on top in the match as he scalped Ajinkya Rahane (15) and Impact player Ambati Rayudu (0) in the same over.  Double blow for Chennai chasing 203 on a difficult wicket. Shivam Dube and Moeen Ali are the two batters in the middle. 

The scoring rate has not dipped post the departure of Devon Conway (8) as Ajinkya Rahane and Gaikwad look to built strong second wicket partnership for Chennai. Nine runs from Ashwin's over.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) 68/1 after 9 overs.

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway start slow for CSK in the powerplay overs on the tricky pitch. Sandeep Sharma and Kuldip Yadav bowled beautifully so far in the powerplay.

Dhruv Jorel's late blitz of 34 runs off 15 balls enabled Rajasthan to reach 202/5 in 20 overs after losing quick wickets in the middle overs.

Maheesh Theekshana got rid of Shimron Hetmyer (8) as the batter was played-on off the carrom ball. Another quick wicket for Chennai. The run rate has been drastically brought down by CSK bowlers in the last few overs. Brilliant comeback from CSK. 

Rajasthan Royals (RR) 166/4 after 18 overs.

Rajasthan Royals suffered a double blow in the 13th over as Tushar Deshpande removed Sanju Samson (17) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (77) in quick succession. Jaiswal smashes four sixes and eight fours in his 43-ball knock. Shimron Hetmyer and Dhruv Jurel are the two new batters at the crease.

Finally, the trick has worked for CSK as Ravindra Jadeja traps Jos Buttler in the ninth over to break the opening wicket partnership for Rajasthan Royals.  Buttler departs after scoring 27 runs. Sanju Samson is the new batter in the middle.  

Yashasvi Jaiswal hits six on a switch hit off Ravindra Jadeja to complete his 26-ball fifty tonight. What a touch he is showing today. The opening partnership is still unbeaten for Rajasthan after eight overs. The scoring rate has not dipped despite the end of the powerplay and the introduction of spin from both ends.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler have put up a great show in the powerplay over for Rajasthan Royals as the duo struck regular boundaries and kept the run rate above 10 per over. Youngster Jaiswal has taken charge of the assault while Buttler is playing second fiddle in the innings so far. 

Rajasthan Royals 64/0 after 6 overs.

"It is pitch number 5 and it will impact the boundary sizes. It is equidistant square but the large straight boundaries are 78 metres. There was not much grass last week when 154 was enough, big change is there is an even covering of grass tonight but it won't bounce or seam extravagantly. The batters will think it is way better for batting, 154 may not be enough this evening," feels Kevin Pietersen.

"This pitch has decent pace but the average bounce is slightly less. We are trying to build characters in our team (bowlers) and make them believe in themselves. Same side for us," CSK skipper MS Dhoni said at the toss. 

"We would like to bat first. We like to stick to our strength, which is to defend. It feels really great to play RR's 200th game, feels great to be playing for 10 years. Would love to see some pink here today, but it's yellow and we know that the reason is (smiles). Boult misses out due to a niggle, Zampa is playing in his place," said Sanju Samson at the toss.

Rajasthan Royals have won the toss and opted to bat first against Chennai Super Kings.
