JE Sports Desk: BCCI has announced India's squad for the upcoming Asian Games in China.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Maharashtra batter Ruturaj Gaikwad will be leading the second-string side including the likes of Rinku Singh and Prabhsimran Singh who get maiden call-ups into the Indian team.
Jitesh Sharma and Washington Sundar have been recalled in the 15-member squad for the enormous tournament.
It will be the first captaincy experience at the highest level for Gaikwad, having already led his domestic side Maharashtra in the past.
The squad features few players for their exceptional IPL performances and few others for their domestic stuff as the players who will be in the World Cup squad and a few who are in contention were not looked at.
Gaikwad will have Yashasvi Jaiswal as his opening partner with Rahul Tripathi making a return to the team. Tilak Varma has retained his spot from the West Indies T20Is while the likes of Washington Sundar, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Shivam Mavi have all returned.
Another player to get a call-up after a long while is Shivam Dube, who impressed everyone with his clean ball striking and ability to hit sixes at will, having helped Chennai Super Kings clinched the IPL title in 2023.

The men’s cricket competition will take place from 28th September to 8th October in a T20 format.
