Samit Dravid, son of India's legendary cricketer Rahul Dravid, reacted to his maiden call-up in India's U-19 team.

Notably, Samit was included in both squads for the upcoming multi-format series against Australia U-19 set to begin on September 21 in India.

"First of all, I am very happy to be selected and thank you for all your wishes. I think I am feeling great, I worked very hard for this moment,” said Samit in a video shared by Star Sports Kannada on X.

Samit still is in the early stages of his promising cricketing career and has impressed many to attract attention in the Indian cricketing circles at the moment.

However, it will be interesting to see how he develops as a cricketer, especially with the pressure of being the son of a legend.

Samit has been playing at the school and district levels, competing in various age-group tournaments. He has often made headlines with some remarkable performances.

Much like his father, he is believed to be a promising talent with an ability to score runs consistently which he has done so far in junior cricket.

He has scored centuries in Under-14 and Under-16 matches and laid the foundation for his potential fine future career.

Considering his father's legacy, there are naturally high expectations for Samit's cricketing future.

However, the former India head coach Rahul Dravid, mentioned the importance of allowing his son to develop at his own pace with no pressure.

Talking about Rahul, he recently ended his coaching career with the senior Indian team after guiding them to the title win in the T20 World Cup 2024.

Rahul has been seen in different crucial roles in order to groom the rising talent in the country.

Having tried his luck with IPL coaching, Rahul was appointed as the head coach of the India U-19 and India A teams where he achieved immense success as a coach.

Despite guiding the teams to the finals of the 2016 U-19 Cricket World Cup and a title win in the 2018 U-19 Cricket World Cup, Dravid played a crucial role in nurturing current national team players like Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan and Washington Sundar during their early days.

In July 2019, Dravid was appointed Head of Cricket at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) before being appointed as the head coach of the senior Indian cricket team in November 2021.
