JE Sports Desk: India opening batter Prithvi Shaw has been facing tough times since losing his spot in the side. The talented batter has not featured for India in any format since July, 2021. He had a forgettable Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season with Delhi Capitals which further dented his hopes to earn a recall in India's squad.

The right-handed batter played eight matches for Delhi Capitals and just scored 106 runs with a top score of 54 against Punjab Kings. The 23-year-old opened up on his omission from India's squad and said he was not told before being dropped from India squad. He failed to get a recall for the ongoing all-format West Indies tour which left the youngster 'disappointed'.

"When I was dropped, I didn't get to know the reason. Someone was saying it could be fitness. But of course, I came here (in Bengaluru) and cleared all the tests at the NCA, again scored runs, and again came back to the T20 team. But again didn't get a chance in the West Indies. I'm disappointed but you just have to move forward. I can't do anything, I can't fight with anyone," Cricbuzz quoted Shaw as saying in an interview.

Shaw went on to share that he does not have friends to share his thoughts with as he is scared that it will come on social media.

"As a person, I just like to be in my own zone. People say a lot of things about me. But those who know me, know how I am. I don't have friends, I don't like to make friends. This is what's happening with this generation. You can't share your thoughts with anyone else. If you ask me personally, it's very scary. Darr lagta hai aajkal to share my thoughts. Agle din social media mein aa jaata hai (I'm scared to share my thoughts. Somehow all of it comes up on social media). I've very less friends, only a couple of friends, and even with them I don't share everything, only a few things," he further said.

Shaw became the youngest Indian to score a Test century on debut but has only played five Tests, six ODIs and a single T20I.

He was not even considered for the Asian Games 2023 squad which will be led by Ruturaj Gaikwad and includes the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma and Prabhsimran Singh.
