Ranji Trophy 2025: India's star batter Shubman Gill didn't have a great start to his return to domestic cricket as he scored just four runs during the first innings in the match against Karnataka on Thursday. Following BCCI's rule to play domestic cricket, Gill couldn't score big.
He had a great start as he smashed a four in Abhilash Shetty's over but it was Shetty who then dismissed him by caught behind.
He had a woeful outing with the bat in the recently concluded five-match Test series against Australia, where he scored just 93 runs in the five innings that he played and didn't even score a half-century.
Jaiswal and Rohit also disappoint
India skipper Rohit Sharma got out after scoring just three runs off 19 balls, whereas Yashasvi Jaiswal scored five runs off 8 balls in their Ranji Trophy clash against Jammu and Kashmir.
Rohit, who was playing in the Ranji Trophy match after 10 years was seen struggling. The J&K fast bowlers Auqib Nabi and Umar Nazir gave him a hard time.
He did take a single during the first over but got stuck and failed to bat against Nazir, who constantly troubled him with his brilliant line and length. Nazir bowled a bouncy delivery, which had hit him in the arm. Rohit mistimed the shot as the ball went down the track.
Before Rohit's wicket, Nabi had dismissed Jaiswal. He trapped Jaiswal in front of the wicket. The young batter who had a flying start mistimed a cover drive.
