SIX vs THU, Big Bash League 2024-25:

Sydney Sixers will be up against Sydney Thunder in match 8 of the ongoing Big Bash League 2024-25 at the Sydney Showground Stadium on Saturday, December 21.

It will be the second match of the day and both teams will be looking for their respective second win of this season, that too in the derby fixture.

Sixers got the better of Melbourne Renegades in their opening match, beating them by 5 wickets at home. They stand fourth in the BBL points table with two points under their belt.

On the other hand, Thunder defeated Adelaide Strikers by 2 wickets in Canberra but still are placed sixth in the standings. They have two points so far after one match.

Sixers finished as runners-up last season as Brisbane Heat defeated them in the final to lift the BBL title. Talking about Thunder, they had a horrible campaign last year and finished last in the points table with just one win.

Both teams have faced off in a total of 25 matches so far in the BBL history with Sixers having a huge upper hand. They have won 17 matches while Sydney Thunder have won seven games, while one match ended with no result.

The pitch at the Sydney Showground Stadium is a drop-in pitch which is considered a good surface for batting early on. However, it won’t be easy to connect with big shots as the game progresses, especially in the second innings. Bowling into the pitch can work very well here.
