SL vs ZIM: Zimbabwe announced the squads for the upcoming ODI and T20I series against Sri Lanka, scheduled to begin on January 6, 2024. The ODI team will be led by Craig Ervine, who missed the home series against Ireland in December due to injury, while Sikandar Raza will take charge of the T20I side.

In the ODI squad, uncapped off-spinner Tapiwa Mufudza, known for his impressive domestic performances, has been included. Fast bowler Faraz Akram, who has already debuted in T20Is, has also earned a spot in the ODI lineup.

The likes of Takudzwanashe Kaitano, Tinashe Kamunhukamwe, Milton Shumba, and Tony Munyonga, who were part of Zimbabwe's squad for the Ireland series, have also been included in the ODI team for the Sri Lanka tour.

Three changes have been made to the T20I squad, with Brian Bennett, Ainsley Ndlovu, and Carl Mumba replacing Kaitano, Mufudza, and Akram. However, Sean Williams misses out due to injury.

Zimbabwe recently lost the ODI and T20I series to Ireland. They went down 2-1 in the T20I series and suffered a 2-0 defeat in the ODI series. Earlier Zimbabwe faced disappointment in the qualifying events for World Cups, failing to qualify for the 20-nation tournament. They lost to Namibia and Uganda in the Africa Region Qualifier.

After the home series against Ireland, Dave Houghton stepped down as the head coach, with Walter Chawaguta appointed as the interim head coach for Zimbabwe's tour of Sri Lanka.
