Indian vice-captain Smriti Mandhana is going through a tough phase in her life after her wedding with music composer Palash Muchhal was called off. Notably, Mandhana took to social media to announce that the wedding had been called off amidst several speculations. However, Smriti was spotted finding her comfort in the nets as her brother, Shravan, posted a picture of her sister in the batting gear.

Mandhana emerged as the highest run-scorer for India in the World Cup, which proved decisive for the country in its tournament-winning campaign. Helming the responsibility as vice-captain of the side, she seldom got India off to a brilliant start in the powerplays.

Her wedding was set for the break right after the World Cup. She didn't give any reason for cancelling the wedding while not giving any mileage to the many rumors about Muchhal on social media.
Higher Purpose Driving All Of Us: Mandhana
Mandhana's post on social media strongly emphasized focusing on her career.
“Over the past few weeks there has been plenty of speculation around my life and I feel it is important for me to speak out at this time. I am a very private person and I would like to keep it that way but I need to clarify that the wedding is called off," Mandhana wrote.

“I would like to close this matter here and implore all of you to do the same. I request you to please respect the privacy of both families at this time and allow us the space to process and move on at our own pace," she added.

“I believe there is a higher purpose driving us all and for me that has always been representing my country at the highest level. I hope to continue to play and win trophies for India for as long as possible and that is where my focus will forever be. Thank you for all your support. It’s time to move forward," Mandhana signed off.
India have set up a five-T20I series against Sri Lanka scheduled to take place between December 21-30.
