Former Indian head coach Rahul Dravid went straight to work as the Rajasthan Royals' head coach just one day after being named to the position.

Following his departure as India's head coach and a brief break from cricket, Dravid returned to the Indian Premier League (IPL), joining the Rajasthan Royals, a side he had previously played for and guided.

The 2008 IPL champions posted a video on their social media accounts in which Dravid was seen entering a meeting dressed in a pink T-shirt, which matches the team's characteristic colour.

The video shows Dravid stepping into a meeting room to speak with franchise management, marking the start of his new chapter with the team.

The newly appointed head coach, said upon his entry,” So this is where the IPL is won."

Dravid has had a lengthy history with the Rajasthan Royals (RR). He was a player for the franchise from 2011 to 2013 before becoming a coach in 2014, after quitting in 2013.

"I am pleased to be returning to the franchise I have called 'home' for a number of years in the past. After the (T20) World Cup, I feel it's the ideal time for me to take on another challenge, and the Royals is the perfect place to do that," Dravid said in the team's media release to announce his appointment.

Dravid has had a long record with the Rajasthan Royals (RR). He was a player for the franchise from 2011 to 2013 before taking a job as a coach in 2014, after quitting in 2013 as a player.

RR have had moments of splendour, but their campaign has been tainted by a lack of consistency and upsets in crucial knockout games. Despite reaching the IPL 2022 final under Sanju Samson's captaincy, they came up short.

In 2023, the squad finished sixth and did not qualify for the playoffs. However, they recovered in 2024, qualifying for the playoffs only to be dismissed by the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the second round.
