SA vs NZ T20I: Riding on Tim Robinson's blistering 74 and all-round performance, New Zealand locked 21-run victory over South Africa after bundling out Proteas for 152 in the second match of the T20I Tri-Series at the Harare Sports Club in Harare on Wednesday.
Robinson steadied the ship with a career-defining innings, masterfully anchoring the batting line-up as he received helpful support from debutant Bevon Jacobs.
Robinson and Jacobs forged an unbeaten 103-run stand for the sixth wicket. For New Zealand, Robinson notched up his career-best score of 75 while Jacobs played a terrific knock of 44 off 30.
Chasing 174 for victory, the Proteas started brightly through Lhuan-dre Pretorius, who smashed a lively 27. However, his wicket sparked a dramatic collapse, with the Proteas slipping to 62/5 by the ninth over.
Blistering cameos by Dewald Brevis and George Linde, both striking 30s, rekindle hopes of a comeback, but their untimely dismissals stalled the momentum. In the last overs, Gerald Coetzee fought valiantly, but the target ultimately proved insurmountable as the team eventually bowled out for 152 with 10 balls remaining.
South Africa's batting faltered against a disciplined New Zealand bowling attack as Matt Henry and Jacob Duffy led the bowling effort with three wickets apiece, while spinner Ish Sodhi chipped in with two.
Earlier, put to bat first, a crucial stand between Tim Robinson and Bevon Jacobs turned the tide for New Zealand after the side stumbled to 70/5.
The pair's stand breathed fire in Kiwi's dead innings, helping the Blackcaps post a competitive 173/5.
