South Africa vs England, ICC Champions Trophy 2025: South Africa bowled England out for just 179 runs in the match 11 of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at the National Stadium in Karachi on Saturday, March 1.
South Africa became the second side from Group B to make it to the semi-finals of the Champions Trophy 2025 after Australia. They displayed a remarkable bowling effort in their third and final group match of the tournament.
The four semi-finalists in the tournament are India, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa.
Joe Root was the top run-getter for England who have already lost their first two games. He played a 37-run knock whereas Jofra Archer (25), Ben Duckett (24) and skipper Jos Buttler (21) made little contributions as well.
Wiaan Mulder was the pick of the bowlers for the Proteas as he took three wickets for just 25 runs in 7.2 overs. Marco Jansen also found three scalps for 39 runs. While Keshav Maharaj got two wickets, Lungi Ngidi and Kagiso Rabada got a success each as well.
Aiming to finish their ICC Champions Trophy 2025 campaign on a high, England made one change in the team as Saqib Mahmood replaced star pacer Mark Wood in their playing XI.
While South Africa's previous match against Australia was washed out due to rain, England headed into today's match on the back of an embarrassing defeat against Afghanistan in their last game in Lahore.
Notably, this is Jos Buttler's last match as England's white-ball captain as the veteran player stepped down from the captaincy on the eve of the match citing the team's dip in performances lately, especially in the ODI format.
