SRH vs MI Highlights, IPL 2023: Mumbai Indians Beat Sunrisers Hyderabad By 14 Runs

"Obviously it was great getting my first IPL wicket. I just had to focus on what was in hand, the plan and executing it. Our plan was just to bowl wide and get the long boundary into play, make the batsman hit it to the longer side. I love bowling, I am happy to bowl anytime the captain asks me to and just stick to the team plan and give my best. We (Sachin Tendulkar and him) talk about cricket, we discuss tactics before the game and he tells me to back what I practise every game. I just focused on my release, bowling good lengths and lines upfront. If it swings, it's a bonus, if it doesn't, so be it," said Arjun.

"All in all we were not at our best tonight. Credit to the boys for taking it deep. We could have done with conceding fewer runs towards the end. It (the surface) stayed pretty much the same throughout the night, on the slower side, not bad at all. Whenever we took pace off the ball did not come on to the bat. We made a call (to bowl first) before the toss and if the dew came in then we were in the game. There was a desperation to make things right from the previous season. Not too bummed, there are areas we can improve on and we will look to do that to give us a good chance to win the next game," said SRH captain Aiden Markram.

Arjun Tendulkar gets his maiden IPL wicket as Mumbai Indians defeat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 14 runs. Arjun successfully defends 20 runs in the last over.

Just four from Green's over as Hyderabad need 20 runs from the last over. Arjun Tendulkar to bowl the final over for Mumbai Indians.

From getting hit for sixes and fours to snatching a wicket, Piyush Chawla's last over had all in it. He was hit for four, consecutive sixes and a four before sending Heinrich Klaasen (36) back to the pavilion. 21 runs from the over.

Heinrich Klaasen and Mayank Agarwal are constantly ticking the scoreboard but the required run rate has climbed to over 12. The duo have the capability to change the momentum of the game as per their choice. 

After Green bagged Aiden Markram (22) in the previous over, Piyush Chawla also joined the party with the dismissal of Abhishek Sharma (1), who falls cheaply.    

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) 73/4 in 9.2 overs

Mayank Agarwal hits Piyush Chawla for the boundary as the spinner concedes 10 runs from his first over. The stand between Markram and Mayank is a positive sign for the hosts.

Jason Behrendorff scalped two wickets in the powerplay for Mumbai Indians as Sunrisers Hyderabad are struggling to build an early partnership in the match. Aiden Markram and Mayank Agarwal are in the middle chasing 193.

Cameron Green's 40-ball 64* studded with two sixes and 6 fours guided Mumbai Indians to 192/5 in 20 overs.

Ishan Kishan and Tilak Verma contributed 38 and 37 runs respectively.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar cuts short Tilka Verma's stay at the crease as he departs after scoring 17-ball 37 studded with four sixes. Eight runs and a wicket from the over.

After Green's boundaries, Tilak Verma sent Jansen out of the park on two successive balls. Massive over for Mumbai Indians as the duo accumulates 21 runs from it.

Mumbai Indians lose their second wicket as Ishan Kishan departs after scoring 38 runs. Marco Jansen breaks the second-wicket stand between Kishan and  Green. What a catch by Markram to send Suryakumar Yadav (7) back to the pavilion to make it two in the over.

Marco Jansen produced a sensational effort on the boundary line as he saved four runs for his side by showing amazing great athletism and presence of mind. Just seven runs from Natarajan's over.

The ongoing second-wicket partnership between Kishan and Green is taking Mumbai Indians to a big score. Kishan is playing an aggressive role in the stand while Green is struggling a bit in the innings so far.

Ishan Kishan is unperturbed by the fall of the wicket at the other end and smashed an elegant flat-six in the last over of the powerplay.  Bhuvneshwar Kumar was at the receiving end as he leaks 11 runs in the over.

T Natarajan gets the first breakthrough for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the powerplay as he sends danger-looking Rohit Sharma (28) back to the pavilion. The right-handed opener mistimed the ball and was taken cleanly by Aiden Markram at mid-off.  

Mumbai Indians (MI) 42/1 after 5 overs.

Iskan Kishan smashed a six off Marco Jansen's last ball in the second over. The opening partnership between Kishan and skipper Rohit Sharma will set the tone of this match.

"We are gonna bowl first. Wicket looks slightly drier, hopefully it gets better with the dew and we restrict them to a chasable total. Not in the 16 (no changes). We'll see how conditions play and adjust from there. Our fielding needs to improve. We let ourselves down slightly in the previous games. (Playing spin) We are improving game by game. There's great spin attacks throughout the comp and if you're not up to the mark, they are gonna put a lot of pressure on you. It's about guys exploring options, finding options that are comfortable to them and it's about trusting that out in the middle," said Aiden Markram at the toss.

"It's been fantastic, 15 years IPL has come off a long way. Has gone from strength to strength. Lots of good things have happened in 15 years. We have to play good cricket. We do understand the challenges of posting a total. We've to assess the conditions. Duan misses out and Jason Behrendorff comes in place of him. Jason was always supposed to play, but he was not well last game. He's okay to go now. (On MI's bowling) It's work in progress, lot of new guys, young guys who are getting the feel of IPL, under pressure situations as well. They've come a long way in the last two games. They've shown glimpses that they can handle the pressure which is a good sign. We want to keep encouraging them to do the stuff that they want to do, the results will follow," said Rohit Sharma at the toss.

"I don't think too much has changed. Mumbai start a little slow but we will pick up going forward. I just look at the matchups. SKY and Rohit are similar people. They have similar approach. The wickets normally are pretty good," said Mumbai Indians all-rounder Cameron Green.

"There's a slight bias to the ground. To my right, 63 metres (square boundary), that's not a big hit, players can muscle that. A little bit bigger to my left - 68 metres. Down the ground about 73 metres. The outfield is pristine, it's absolutely beautiful. The surface is interesting. It's a light colour, very grey colour. The grass that was there is cut very very low. I'm just wondering ... the ball feels as though it'll come on to the bat on this but because the grass is cut so low, I'm not sure. I don't know if it'll grip a little bit for the slowmen. But it looks beautiful. If later in the game, dew comes in, it'll slide on nicely. From a batting perspective, you come out here and you'll enjoy seeing this," said Ian Bishop.
