Suresh Raina Illegal Betting App Case: Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina on Wednesday appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning in an alleged illegal betting app-linked money laundering case, official sources said.

The federal probe agency will record his statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) as part of this investigation is linked to an "illegal" betting app named 1xBet, the sources said.

The 38-year-old former Indian cricketer is understood to have been linked to the app through certain endorsements. The ED wants to understand his links with this app during the questioning.

The agency is probing multiple such cases involving illegal betting apps that are alleged to have duped numerous people and investors worth crores of rupees or have evaded a huge amount of taxes.

Raina is a former Indian cricketer who cemented his place in the Indian team with his aggressive batting and handy off-spin bowling.

Raina made his international debut in 2005 and went on to play more than 200 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 78 Tests, leaving his stamp in the international circuit with his brisk scoring ability and brilliant fielding skills.

The 38-year-old was a crucial player in the Indian team that lifted the ICC World Twenty20 in 2007 and the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2011.
