Surrey County Cricket Club on Monday carved their name in the history books by registering their highest-ever first-class total of 820/9 declared at the Kia Oval, surpassing the previous county record of 811 set in 1899.

The tremendous accomplishment came on Day 2 of their County Championship Division One clash against Durham at The Oval.

Dom Sibley’s 10-hour 305, plus quickfire 100s from Dan Lawrence and Will Jacks, propelled Surrey to 820/9 declared, the biggest first-class total in the Club’s history over 180 years.

It was Dom Sibley's first triple-century in first-class cricket, embellished with 29 fours and 2 sixes.

In reply to this, Durham ended the day at 59/1 in 28 overs. Matt Fisher gave his side an early breakthrough, dismissing Emilio Gay for seven.

Despite a tremendous performance with bat, Surrey missed chances to tighten their grip with the ball as Jordan Clark dropped Alex Lees on 11 and later Will Rhodes survived on 16 after a slip by Sibley.

Meanwhile, Surrey’s 820/9 is the highest-ever first-class total against Durham, surpassing Warwickshire’s 810/4 declared in 1994 in a match that witnessed legend Brian Lara famously score 501*.

With his terrific knock, Sibley now joined a list of legends that includes Lara, Graeme Hick, and Darren Lehmann to register a triple hundred against Durham.
