The International Cricket Council (ICC) and Cricket West Indies (CWI) are currently conducting a second inspection of venues in the Caribbean and the USA for the upcoming T20 World Cup. This two-week review, which began on November 30 and is set to conclude on December 15, is an essential step in assessing the preparedness of the venues for the tournament scheduled next year.

The inspection covers various crucial aspects, including the condition of pitches and outfields, practice facilities, players' dressing rooms, broadcast and media facilities, IT and security capabilities, hotels, guest houses, as well as areas designated for fan parks. Following the completion of the inspections and assessments, the ICC will compile its findings and communicate them, along with any necessary recommendations, to Cricket West Indies.

The ninth edition of the T20 World Cup is anticipated to be a significant cricketing event, with 20 teams divided into four groups and a total of 55 matches scheduled to take place from June 4 to June 30, 2024. West Indies and the USA are set to co-host the tournament, marking the first time the USA will be hosting an ICC tournament. However, Dominica recently withdrew from hosting the event, leading to adjustments in the venue planning for the tournament.

“The implementation timelines submitted by various contractors revealed that it would not be possible to complete these works within the stipulated time frame,” the Dominica sports ministry said in a press release.

“As a result, a decision was taken not to host any of the matches in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024,” the release added.
