T20 World Cup 2024: India became the third team in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 at qualify for the Super Eight stage as they defeated the USA in New York on Wednesday, June 12.
With the seven-wicket victory at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium India comfortably made it to the next round, having won all of their first three matches.
The Men in Blue stand in the top of the Group A standings.

After opting to bowl first, the Rohit Sharma-led side did well to restrict the co-hosts USA to 110/8 in their 20 overs.
They struggled a bit in the run chase but got over the line on the back of a match-winning partnership of 72 runs between Suryakumar Yadav (50) and Shivam Dube (31).
The Super Eight will include two groups with four teams each. As per the format, Group 1 will include A1, C1, B2 and D2, while Group 2 will have B1, D1, A2 and C2.
India vs Australia in Super 8: Pre-decided
In an interesting run of events, India will be up against Australia as per the pre-seeding for the Super 8 stage decided by the ICC.
India are set to face Australia on June 24th, in a confirmed fixture. Rohit Sharma and Co. are seeded as A1 whereas Australia are seeded as B2.
Australia made it to the next round on the back of three wins in three matches and stand at the top of Group B.
Which other teams India will face in Super 8?
Apart from Australia, Afghanistan will also be drawn into India's group in the Super 8 stage with Bangladesh also expected to get the other Super 8 slot in that group.
As per the format, India would have faced C1 (New Zealand) and D2 (Sri Lanka) but both these teams are on the verge of getting eliminated.

It means the non-seeded teams from Groups C and D who qualify for Super Eight will be joining India’s group in the second round.

After the win over the USA, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma said: "It is a big relief, playing cricket here wasn't easy. We had to stick through till the end in all 3 games. Will take a lot of confidence from these wins."
