T20 World Cup 2024 India Squad: Rohit Sharma-led Indian team is all set for action in the T20 World Cup 2024 which is scheduled to commence in June this year in West Indies and the USA.
India decided to include four spinners in their 15-member squad for the marquee event including Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadavm Axar Patel and Yuzvendra Chahal.
Addressing the press conference at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai on Thursday, skipper Rohit admitted that it was his decision to go with four spinners but stayed back from revealing the reason for the strange step.

"I definitely wanted four spinners we have played a lot of cricket there, there is a technical aspect involved in it. There is a reason for four spinners which I am not going to say now but I wanted four spinners for sure and three seamers and Hardik being fourth, Rohit said.
"I don't want to go into much detail because I am sure opposition captains will listen to this. I wanted more spinners, we know what the conditions are like. Matches start at 10-10:30 in the morning. There's a technical aspect involved in this. Maybe in the first press conference in the West Indies, I'll speak about it. Won't say now, but definitely there. I wanted four spinners and three seamers with Hardik being there you get the balance. With two spinners being all-rounders, then two attacking spinners give you balance in the spin department as well. Based on opposition composition we can decide what to play with," he added.
The most notable inclusion was Yuzvendra Chahal's selection as he was speculated to miss out once again but his recent IPL performances did it for him very well.
Despite having four spinners in the squad, the Indian team is without an off-spinner as Rohit revealed the reason with Washington Sundar and Ravichandran Ashwin being the two options.
"We discussed a lot, unfortunately, Washy (Washington) hasn't played a lot lately. It was then between Ash and Axar. It was like that, we thought having two left-arm spinners - Ash hasn't played the format lately. Axar was in good form when he played those five matches against Australia. He has been bowling well and gives us that left-handed option in the middle if we want to do something different," Rohit said.
