T20 World Cup 2024: The Indian cricket team arrived in New Delhi in the early hours of Thursday morning in a special Air India chartered plane from Barbados. They were stuck on three days in the Caribbean island after winning the final and finally came back to India with the trophy on Thursday. The BCCI took to its official X account and posted a video in which the Men in Blue are seen carrying the trophy in the special plane.

All the Indian cricket fans gave them an arousing reception at the airport. Skipper Rohit Sharma entered the airport while carrying the trophy in his hand. Virat Kohli was given a warm reception and he also greeted the fans and thanked them for their support.

It should be noted here that the Rohit Sharma-led side was stuck in Barbados for nearly four days after lifting the trophy as the operations of the Barbados airport were closed due to hurricane Beryl. As soon as the situation got better, a special Air India chartered flight was arranged for Barnados to bring the Indian cricket team back home.

After a long flight of 18 hours, the team finally reached India as the fans had been eagerly waiting since the last night to take a glimpse of their favorite players. Special arrangements were being organized for the team’s reception both at the airport and their team hotel.

A special cake, which looks exactly like the elusive title has also been made which the Men in Blue will cut when they reach their team hotel. They would also be given welcome drinks, which have the color of the national flag. They would then have a special breakfast with the honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi and will then travel to Mumbai for a special roadshow, which will begin from Nariman Point to the Wankhede Stadium, as that is where the whole team would be facilitated.

After that, they would fly on a chartered flight to Mumbai.

From the Mumbai airport, they would then head towards the Wankhede Stadium.

From there they would take a 1km long bus parade.

There will be a small felicitation ceremony at the Wankhede Stadium, where Indian skipper Rohit Sharma will give the trophy to Jay Shah.

The Rohit Sharma-led side thrashed South Africa in the last week. Rohit Sharma is now the second Indian skipper after MS Dhoni to have won the T20 World Cup. With this win, they also ended their 11-year-long ICC title drought.

India scored 176 runs in the final while batting first in Barbados. Virat Kohli was the highest run scorer as he scored a match-winning knock of 76 runs and then in the second the Indian bowlers rattled South Africa’s batting lineup. The Aiden Markram-led side was at one point on the verge of winning since they needed just 30 runs off 30 balls. But Jasprit Bumrah helped the team bounce back by bowling a miserly spell during the death overs.

After this historic triumph, veterans like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja announced retirement from the shortest format. Team India’s head coach Rahul Dravid’s tenure also ended with this tournament.
