T20 World Cup 2026: Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh already enjoys the status of being India’s highest wicket-taker in T20Is as he chases another elite record as the Suryakumar Yadav-led side faces Namibia in their second Group A match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 on Thursday (February 12) in Delhi. Notably, Arshdeep is just four wickets from becoming India's highest wicket-taker in the history of the T20 World Cup. Notably, former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin occupies the No. 1 position despite playing his final T20 World Cup game in the year 2022.
Ashwin has featured in 24 T20 World Cup games for India and has accumulated 32 scalps in the format.
Arshdeep is second on the list with 29 wickets to his name in 15 T20 World Cup matches played so far. Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya follow with the 3rd and 4th spots in the list.
Ravichandran Ashwin - 24 matches and 32 wickets

Jasprit Bumrah - 18 matches and 26 wickets

The highest number of wickets taken in the T20 World Cup belongs to former Bangladesh captain and iconic all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. Throughout his career, Shakib participated in 43 T20 World Cup matches from 2007 to 2024, claiming the wickets of 50 batsmen.
Adam Zampa Overtakes Shahid Afridi
In Australia's recent match against Ireland, star spinner Adam Zampa overtook former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi to become the bowler with the joint-second-highest wickets in the T20 World Cup.
The spinner made this upward movement in the charts during his side's ICC T20 World Cup campaign opener against Ireland at Colombo. During the defence of 183 runs, he took a brilliant four-wicket haul, ending the match with figures of 4/23 in four overs.
Now in 22 T20 WC matches, he has taken 40 wickets at an average of 12.90 and an economy rate of 6.29, with best figures of 5/19. He has also taken two four-fers and a five-wicket haul in the tournament and is tied with Afghanistan superstar Rashid Khan for the joint-second-highest T20 WC wickets. Rashid has 40 scalps in 25 matches at an average of 15.37, with three four-fers tohis name.
