T20 World Cup 2026: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has given an ultimatum to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), which had refused to come to India for the upcoming mega event. As per ESPNcricinfo, the global body has set a January 21 deadline for BCB to travel to India, or else Scotland will replace them as the European team might get a chance owing to the current T20I rankings. They were informed about this in a meeting that was held between them on Saturday.
The BCB repeated its request to change its venues from India to Sri Lanka owing to security issues. The report revealed that an independent security agency's advisory had revealed that they had put the threat level between ‘medium to high band’. But the ICC told BCB that they won't face any security threat in playing their matches in India.
The ICC has also rejected BCB's request to change their groups with Ireland, who will be playing all their matches in Sri Lanka.

The tussle between BCB and ICC has entered its third week. Bangladesh is supposed to play their group stage matches in Kolkata and a fourth in Mumbai from next month.
BCB’s security issues came to light after BCCI told KKR to let go of Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman ahead of IPL 2026 after buying him for a whopping amount of Rs 9.2 crore at the auction. Both KKR and BCCI revealed the exact reason for this decision.
The BCB was also facing some issues from within, where ex-cricketers demanded a diplomatic solution instead of just travelling. Things got worse when a board member said that they won't be affected much financially if they don't play in the mega event and won't compensate the players, which led to players protesting.
