Former India batter Ambati Rayudu has picked his squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 that includes some surprise picks including pace sensation Mayank Yadav and Riyan Parag. The veteran player has given priority to IPL performers over experience as he snubbed Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul from the squad.

The former CSK player picked Yashasvi Jaiswal as captain Rohit Sharma opening partner while in-form Virat Kohli for the no.3 role. Kohli has been the leading run-getter in the ongoing IPL 2024.

In the middle order, Rayudu added No. 1 T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav, breakthrough performer Riyan Parag and power-hitter Rinku Singh. The former batter picked experienced Dinesh Karthik as India's wicketkeeper-batter for the showpiece event.

There was no room for comeback man Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul in the 15-memeber squad picked by Rayudu. Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) attacking batter Shivam Dube was also named in the fold while Ravindra Jadeja was the sole all-rounder.

Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep yadav were picked to lead the spin-attack while IPL-find Mayank Yadav will support pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh.

However, there has been no official word on India's T20 World Cup squad from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) with announcement expected to be made by the end of this month.

Ambati Rayudu's India squad for T20 World Cup: Rohit Sharma (c), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Riyan Parag, Rinku Singh, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh, Mayank Yadav.

Earlier, Rohit refuted the claims of meeting chief seelctor Ajit Agarkar and head coach Rahul Dravid in Mumbai for discussing the combination for Men in Blue.

"I haven't met anyone. Ajit Agarkar is somewhere in Dubai playing golf and Rahul Dravid is actually watching his kids play in Bengaluru," Rohit had told Michael Vaughan and Adam Gilchrist on the Club Prairie Fire podcast.

"He [Dravid] was in Mumbai but he got him [the son] to play on a red-soil wicket at CCI. That's about it. We haven't met, to be honest. I think in today's day and age, unless you hear it from either myself or Rahul himself or Ajit himself or someone from BCCI coming and talking in front of the camera, everything is fake," he had added.
