Highest wicket-taker in Test for India: India's veteran spinner R Ashwin stunned the whole cricketing world after announcing retirement from international cricket when the third Test match in the Gabba ended. Ashwin revealed this during the post-match press conference with Indian captain Rohit Sharma since the third Test match ended in a tie. Ashwin did feature in the pink-ball Test of the ongoing series but Ravindra Jadeja replaced him for the third Test match. He is the country's second-highest wicket-taker in the longest format as he had taken 537 wickets after playing in 106 games and is just behind Anil Kumble, who had taken 619 wickets.

Although he would still play in the Indian Premier League, where he would be representing CSK.

He took just one wicket during the second Test match in Adelaide.

After him announcing his retirement from international cricket, he has left huge shoes to fill in for all those young bowlers, who would be replacing him.

Ashwin led the bowling attack from the front and played a huge role in Team India's Test dominance from 2019 to 2014.

Speaking about his home dominance in this format, he was just brilliant. He didn't just star with the ball but also made significant contributions with the bat.
