South Africa's upcoming young all-rounder Tristan Stubbs admitted that he is still dealing with the emotional turmoil of his team's heart-breaking loss to the Men in Blue in the summit clash of the 2024 T20 World Cup in June this year. Although India ended their 11-year-old ICC trophy drought South Africa's wait for winning an ICC title has only increased. During an interaction with IOA, Stubbs admitted that the loss is still haunting him, and it's difficult for him to move on.

The Aiden Markram-led side dominated in the final for the most part. They needed just 26 runs to win off 24 balls and with six wickets remaining, South Africa was inching closer to lifting their maiden title. But Jasprit Bumrah's brilliant over in the death overs along with Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya changed the fate of the game and thus defeated South Africa by seven runs.

"T20 WC Final results come up when you don't want it to. I've tried my best to forget, but it's not easy. Someone the other night told us about this and you're like, 'You don't have to tell us if you feel bad for us'...Some things you don't want to remember," Stubbs was quoted as saying to IOA.

The loss was especially hurtful for Stubbs, who had played a huge role in their campaign and helped the team qualify for the summit clash. In their stint, he showed his hard-hitting prowess and stood up when they needed him the most. While playing as a middle-order batter, he scored 196 runs in 11 matches at a brilliant strike rate of 101.03 and thus proved his worth as an important player of the team.

They did perform consistently throughout the mega-event but Stubbs revealed why it was so hard to move on from that loss especially how close they got to lifting their maiden title. He said that the memories of that loss are reminded to him frequently and thus it has become challenging for him to completely move on from it. Since Stubbs is still considered an upcoming talent, for him to move on from this disappointment is important for his mental and emotional growth.
