Former India cricketer Vinod Kambli is reportedly living at an old-age home in Thane. A video of the former batter has been circulating on social media, in which he can be seen talking about the facilities and hygiene at the centre.

Kambli, who represented India between 1991 and 2000, appears to struggle while speaking in the video. However, he says that he has been feeling at home at the centre and praises the care and facilities available there.

Concerns Over Kambli’s Health

The video has led to concerns among social media users about Kambli’s health. The 54-year-old has faced several health problems in recent years and was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai in December 2024 after suffering from a serious urinary infection.

Kambli’s friend Marcus Couto, a former first-class umpire, had earlier spoken about the former cricketer’s health. Couto claimed that Kambli had been dealing with memory problems after developing a clot in his brain.

“Ever since he was hospitalised in Thane about 18 months ago, Kambli has had a clot in his brain. His memory is not good. He remembers things and then forgets about them. That’s all due to that clot in his brain,” Couto had told The Times of India earlier this year.

Couto also claimed that Kambli had stopped drinking but still smoked occasionally. He said doctors had advised Kambli against smoking because of the potential risk of a brain stroke.

Kambli’s Wife Had Denied Health Claims

However, Kambli’s wife Andrea Hewitt had previously dismissed the claims about his health as rumours.

“By God’s grace, Vinod is fine. I don’t know who is spreading false information about his health,” Hewitt was quoted as saying by India Today.

Kambli’s India Career

Kambli was regarded as one of India’s most talented young batters and had made a strong impression during his age-group and domestic cricket days.

He made a promising start to his international career but was unable to sustain it for a long period. Kambli eventually played 17 Tests and 104 ODIs for India before his international career came to an end.
