Virat Kohli's 36th Birthday: Virat Kohli is celebrating his birthday on November 5, 2024, as he turns 36, receiving a monumental amount of wishes from across the globe and from all walks of life on his special day.

Fans are reminiscing about his stellar journey in international cricket, having made his India debut way back in 2008.

Often compared to the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, Kohli has taken the baton forward and has set new standards of batting greatness that too across formats on the back of his unmatched passion and determination.

He already has gone past several records set by his idol Sachin Tendulkar himself including an incredible feat of most ODI hundreds.

Last year, Kohli set a new benchmark of greatness during the ODI World Cup 2023 and played a key role in India's memorable journey to the final.

During the semi-final match against New Zealand, Kohli scripted history as he smashed his 50th ODI hundred at the Wankhede Stadium in front of the great Sachin Tendulkar.

However, another memorable instance took place during the match against South Africa.

Let's take a look back at how Virat Kohli matched Tendulkar's record of most ODI hundreds on his birthday last year.

After opting to bat first, India lost two wickets inside the first 11 overs as skipper Rohit Sharma (40) and Shubman Gill (23) departed early in the innings.

Kohli was then joined by Shreyas Iyer in the middle and the duo capitalised on the promising start. They stitched a remarkable partnership of 134 runs for the third wicket.

Shreyas departed in the 37th over after playing a remarkable knock of 77 runs in 87 deliveries on the back of seven fours and two sixes.

On the other hand, Kohli kept going and went on to smash his 49th ODI hundred on his 35th birthday, matching Tendulkar's tally of most ODI centuries.

He remained unbeaten on 101 which he scored with the help of 10 fours and helped India post a mammoth total of 326/5 in their 50 overs.

In reply, South Africa had a horrible outing and were bowled out for just 83 runs in 27.1 overs with Ravindra Jadeja taking a five-wicket haul.

A few days later Kohli went past Tendulkar with his 50th ODI hundred that too in front of the legendary batter who applauded the achievement from the stands.

The right-handed batter ended the tournament as the top run-getter with 765 runs to his name at an average of 95.62 on the back of three hundreds and six fifties.
