Australia were crowned 2023 ODI World Cup champions for the sixth time after defeating hosts India by six wickets in the final in front of a packed Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Pat Cummins-led Australia to the third major title of the year after winning the first World Test Championship (WTC) title and successfully defending the Ashes series in England.

Cummins is having the most cherished year of his career so far on the cricket field and when asked about the reporter, "On your deathbed, in 70 years time, what is the moment you will think of from that final?"

The pacer responded that the silence after Virat Kohli's wicket in the stadium was the moment that he would savour for a long time.

"I think the Virat Kohli wicket I was obviously very pumped. And then, we're in the huddle after that wicket, and Steve Smith says, 'Boys, listen to the crowd for a second'. And we just took a moment of pause, and it was as quiet as a library; 100,000 Indians there, and it was so quiet. I'll savour that moment for a long time," Cummins said in an interview to The Age.

Before the final, Cummins wished to silence the home crowd and he managed to do so in Ahmedabad.

Cummins ended Kohli's knock for 54 and restricted India's total to 240 in the summit clash after being asked to bat first. The speedster returned with the figures of 2/34 and played a huge role in wrapping India's innings to below-par total.

In response, Travis Head's 137 and Marnus Labuschagne's 58 guided Australia to a thumping six-wicket win in the title battle.
