India have sealed the three-match ODI series 2-1 after clinching the third match by 200 runs at Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad on Wednesday. Stand-in skipper Hardik Pandya was not happy with the arrangements on the tour and slammed the West Indies cricket board for not arranging the basic things.
All-rounder Pandya led the side for the second time in the series as regular skipper Rohit Sharma and senior batter Virat Kohli were rested again to test youngsters in the middle order with the likes of Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad.
"This was one of the nicest grounds we have played. Things can be better when we come to West Indies next time. From travelling to managing a lot of things. Last year also, some hiccups happened. I think it's time for West Indies Cricket to take note of it and make sure that when a team travels...," Pandya said in the post-match presentation.
"We don’t ask for luxury but we need some basic necessities taken care of. Other than that, really enjoyed coming here and playing some good cricket," he added.
Indian players had complained to BCCI about a delayed late-night flight from Trinidad to Barbados prior to the first ODI. They were unable to sleep as a result, which had an impact on their readiness for the ODI series opener.
Pandya smashed unbeaten 70 runs off 52 balls as India posted 351/5 in 50 overs. Shubman Gill's stunning 85 off 92 balls and Ishan Kishan's 77 off 64 balls set the stage for a huge total. For the opening partnership, the pair contributed 143 runs.
With a brilliant 51 off 41 balls, Sanju Samson improved his chances for a spot in ODI playing 11. On batting friendly pitch, Pandya showed off his power-hitting skills by hitting five sixes and four boundaries.
The chase was always out of question and Mukesh Kumar's (3/30 in 7 overs) three-wicket burst with some quality seam bowling in the first Powerplay dashed West Indies' hopes as they were shot out for 151 in only 35.3 overs.
Gudakesh Motie (39 not out) and Alzarri Joseph (26) delayed the inevitable with a 55-run stand for the ninth wicket.
Shardul Thakur (4/37 in 6.3 overs), Jaydev Unadkat (1/16 in 5 overs) and Kuldeep Yadav (2/25 in 8 overs) were also among the wickets as the series decider turned out to be a lopsided contest.
