WI vs BAN, 2nd ODI: It was the first time in 10 years that West Indies had defeated Bangladesh in an ODI series. During the second ODI, the hosts had put up a brilliant match-winning performance as they skittled Bangladesh out for 227 runs and then chased down the target quite comprehensively in 37 overs with seven wickets remaining.

With this win, the hosts have sealed the series as well with one match remaining as they aim to rebuild their ODI squad after failing to qualify for the 2023 ODI World Cup.

“It's great to see the bowlers bounce back the way they did. Gotta tick boxes and keep improving. We were clinical. We've been struggling to win series at home (so) hope to finish 3-0 now", Shai Hope told the broadcaster in the post-match presentation.

The 2nd ODI was held at the same venue where the Shai Hope-led side won the series opener and the target was 300 runs. But pacer Jayden Seales rattled Bangladesh's batting lineup by taking three wickets during the first powerplay. Seales then dismissed Mahmudullah, who had scored 62 runs during the 45th over and had registered match-winning figures of 4/22 in the nine overs that he bowled.

West Indies had a flying start while chasing a modest target as batters Brandon King and Ewin Lewis built a partnership of 109 runs in 21 overs. King scored 82 runs whereas both Lewis and Keacy Carty fell short of well-deserved fifties.

Bangladesh was reeling at 115/7 during the 27th over, where Tanzim Hasan Sakib along with Mahmudullah helped the team bounce back. Although, they were batting aggressively the highest score that they could reach was 270-280.

Mahmudullah scored his half-century off 84 balls and Tanzim was inching closer towards reaching his but was soon dismissed by off-spinner Roston Chase. Tanzim had scored 45 runs off 62 balls and had built a partnership of 92 runs off 106 balls. And then Mahmadullah was dismissed after scoring 62 runs off 92 balls.

While chasing, Lewis was initially seen struggling and also survived a dropped catch on 28. King and Lewis both survived body blows after scoring 40 runs while playing pull shots in Nahid Rana's over. King scored his half-century by smashing his eighth four off 52 balls but Lewis was dismissed after scoring 49 runs as Rishad Hossain took an easy catch.

King then smashed a brilliant shot as he went down the track in Tanzim's over and went towards the roof. Rana eventually dismissed him after scoring 82 runs off 76 balls, in which he had smashed eight fours and three sixes.

He had stitched a match-winning partnership of 66 runs with Carty, who was dismissed after scoring 45 runs, and the hosts needed just 31 more runs to win the match.

Both the teams will play the third and the last ODI at the same venue on Thursday.
