West Indies cricket suffered a major setback over a month ago when they failed to make it to the ODI World Cup 2023 in India, their first-ever exclusion from the mega event since its inception in 1975.

However, the Men in Maroon were just a different side when they took the field against India for a five-match T20I series, a format that seems to have suited best to them over the years.

After the West Indies' series win on Sunday, former pace bowler Ian Bishop would deliver an emotional statement on the win and what it meant in the current context for Cricket West Indies.

“I saw some tweets on social media about the state of West Indies Cricket from my friends and colleagues. I would want to remind them that when your friend is hurt, you don’t say get rid of them. You try to find out how to help them. Leave it,” Bishop would say on the broadcast.

Bishop along with a few other former players and experts has been a huge admirer of his team's cricket but also is the first one to point out flaws and mistakes when it is needed.

Talking about the T20I series, the hosts overpowered Hardik Pandya's side in the first two games and took a promising lead of 2-0 in the series.

The visitors managed to make a comeback and made it 2-2 before the Windies once again ended up on the right side when it mattered the most and claimed the series 3-2.

Earlier, after winning the toss in Lauderhill, Florida, Hardik Pandya opted to bat first. On the back of Suryakumar Yadav’s 61 of 45, the Men in Blue posted 165/8 in their 20-overs quota. Romario Shepherd (4/31) was the pick of the bowlers for Rovman Powell and Co.

Chasing the target, the hosts comfortably closed the game with eight wickets in hand and two overs to spare.

King (85*) and Pooran (47) stitched a 107-run stand for the second wicket and were the highest run-getter in the game and the highest scorer in the series respectively.

Windies finally managed to get something positive out of the all-format tour after going down 0-1 in the Tests and losing 1-2 in the ODI series.

The two-time ODI World Cup winners will not be part of the enormous tournament later this year which is a huge disappointment for them, considering their rich and royal history in the game.

Apart from their wins in 1975 and 1979, they have also two T20 World Cup titles under their belt, having won the tournament in 2012 and 2016.
