Who is Sam Konstas, India vs Australia Test: Sam Konstas made it to Australia's squad for the final two Test matches against India in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Konstas replaced Nathan McSweeney in the Australian team, who scored just 72 runs at an average of 14.40. This included a knock of 39 in the first innings of the pink-ball Test in Adelaide.

The 19-year-old Konstas is expected to make his debut for the Australian team and open alongside Usman Khawaja in the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne.

Both teams will be looking for the best possible result in the fourth Test as the series is currently levelled at 1-1 after the Brisbane Test ended in a draw.

Who is Sam Konstas?

Born in October 2005, Sam Konstas is a top-order batter who plays domestic cricket for New South Wales. He recently impressed everyone with the bat while playing for Australia's Prime Minister's XI against India in the day-night practice match.

He smashed a remarkable century, scoring 107 runs at the Manuka Oval in Canberra.

Konstas grabbed the attention on the back of his twin Sheffield Shield centuries for New South Wales. He also scored 73 runs against India A at the MCG.

Talking about his first-class stats Konstas has scored 718 runs in 11 matches so far at an average of 42.23 on the back of two centuries and three half-centuries.

Recently, the right-handed batter made his debut for Sydney Thunder in the ongoing Big Bash League 2024-25 season.

While opening alongside veteran batter David Warner, he smashed a blistering 57 off 26 balls, marking the fastest half-century in Sydney Thunder’s history.

If he debuts in Melbourne, he will become only the third Australian cricketer in the last 40 years to make his Test debut as a teenager after Pat Cummins and Ashton Agar.

"Sam earns his first call-up to the Test squad. His style of batting offers a point of difference, and we look forward to seeing his game develop further" said Australian Chair of Selectors George Bailey.
