West Indies cricket team vs England cricket team 4th T20I:
West Indies registered their first win of the series as they defeated England by five wickets at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet in St Lucia on Saturday.
The high-scoring contest saw West Indies chase down a 219-run huge target in just 19 overs to make it 1-3 in the five-match series.
Evin Lewis was the star performer for the hosts with the bat as he played a remarkable knock of 68 runs in just 31 balls on the back of four boundaries and seven sixes.
Shai Hope provided magnificent support with a crucial contribution of 54 runs in 24 deliveries. He smashed seven fours and three sixes as the duo stitched a 136-run opening stand.
While skipper Rovman Powell scored 38 runs, Sherfane Rutherford finished things in style and played a fiery cameo of 29 runs off 17 deliveries.
For England, Rehan Ahmed picked up three wickets whereas John Turner found a scalp as well.
After being put into bat first, the visitors posted a massive total of 218/5 in their 20 overs with Jacob Bethell (62*) being their top run-getter.
He hit four boundaries and five sixes in his knock while Phil Salt played a 55-run knock earlier in their innings.
"We had to assess the conditions, that's what we struggled with in the earlier games. Just had to understand the situation and had to come out on top in the powerplay. Just need to do what the team requires. It's about understanding what is required and what the team needs. I prefer to bat in the middle, but I want to enjoy my cricket, so I am happy to bat anywhere. Need to work with my trainer (to avoid run-outs)," Shai Hope said after being adjudged as the Player of the Match.
England already have won the T20I series, having won the first three matches and will be looking to extend their lead when both teams face off in the final match on Sunday at the same venue.
