Wimbledon 2025: Ace Tennis star Novak Djokovic secured his spot in the Wimbledon quarter-finals for the 16th time, though it proved to be a challenging day at the office as he battled past Australian Alex de Minaur on Monday. The 38-year-old Serb endured an abysmal start, losing the opening set in just 31 minutes. However, he gradually gained control of the cagey encounter to win 1-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4, keeping alive his quest for a record-extending 25th Grand Slam title.

With Roger Federer, whose record of eight men's Wimbledon titles Djokovic is aiming to equal, watching from the Royal Box, Djokovic's usually precise game notably misfired early in the match before he found his rhythm to advance. Apart from Federer, India's iconic batter Virat Kohli also graced the match with his presence along with wife Anushka Sharma.

Notably, Kohli also put out a story praising Djokovic post his victory.

His next opponent in the quarterfinals will be Italian Flavio Cobolli.

The hustling and bustling Di Minaur continued to cause Djokovic headaches after that but the sixth seed found his range to win the next two sets full of attritional baseline rallies.

Even then Djokovic looked like getting dragged into a fifth set as Di Minaur jumped into a 4-1 lead in the fourth set but the Serb slammed the door shut just in time, winning five games in a row to take his place in the last eight.

"I don't know how I'm feeling to be honest. I'm still trying to process the whole match and what happened on the court. It wasn't a great start for me, it was a great start for Alex," a weary Djokovic said on court.

"He was just managing the play better from the back of the court and I didn't have many solutions. I was very pleased to hang tough in the right moments and win this one."
