ICC Women's World Cup: India suffered a massive blow ahead of the ICC Women's World Cup as speedster Arundhati Reddy sustained an injury during the warm-up match against England at the BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground in Bengaluru on Thursday.

The pacer, who had earlier removed England opener Amy Jones, tried a return catch off Heather Knight in the 13th over but landed uncomfortably on her left leg before collapsing to the ground.

Doctors ran in to attend to Reddy and initially tried to help her walk off the field before a wheelchair was brought in for the bowler.

The ICC said that "clarity is awaited" on Reddy's participation in the World Cup after the freak accident in her follow-through.

The Indian team will hope that Reddy's injury is not severe, as she is a vital player in the side's pace bowling department.

Consequently, Jemimah Rodrigues stepped in to complete the 13th over. The rigour of Reddy's injury is yet to be confirmed, and there's tension about her availability for India's tournament opener against Sri Lanka on September 30 in Guwahati.

Meanwhile, previously, India outlined wicketkeeper-batter Uma Chetry as a replacement for Yastika Bhatia, who hurt her left knee during India's preparatory camp for the World Cup in Visakhapatnam.

India will begin their campaign against co-hosts Sri Lanka on the opening day of the tournament in Guwahati on September 30.
