World Test Championship Points Table: Australia have surged to the top of the World Test Championship 2023-25 points table after securing an eight-wicket victory over Pakistan in Sydney. With an impressive five wins and two losses in eight Tests, the Aussies have solidified their position over second placed India.

Meanwhile, Pakistan after facing a 3-0 series defeat have slipped to sixth place with 36.66% points. Initially, India claimed the top spot after a seven-wicket triumph over South Africa in Cape Town. However, their reign was short-lived, and they now sit second with 54.16% points from four Tests.

South Africa, New Zealand, and Bangladesh share joint-third place, each boasting 50% points from their respective two games. The recent Boxing Day and New Year's Tests witnessed action from four teams: India, South Africa, Pakistan, and Australia.

South Africa asserted dominance in Centurion, securing an innings and 32-run victory over India in three days, with Dean Elgar leading the charge in his farewell series. In a swift turnaround, India retaliated strongly, dismantling South Africa in Cape Town in the shortest completed Test ever.

The Australia-Pakistan Tests in Melbourne and Sydney showcased ebbs and flows in the passages of the game, with the hosts ultimately maintaining composure when it really mattered. Captain Pat Cummins played a match-winning role in rescuing Australia in Melbourne after taking a 10-wicket haul in tha match.

In Sydney, Australia bid farewell to David Warner with another triumphant win. The bottom three spots on the points table are occupied by West Indies (16.67%), England (15%), and Sri Lanka (0%).

Australia, as the reigning World Test Champions, have an opportunity to strengthen its position further when hosting West Indies for two Tests later this month. The World Champions recently claimed the number one spot in the ICC Test rankings as well.

On the other hand, India, the runners-up, are gearing up for a five-Test home series against England starting January 25 in Hyderabad. England, despite two wins, two losses, and one draw in the Ashes, currently have only nine points due to a 19-point penalty for a slow over-rate.

South Africa's upcoming challenge is a two-match Test series in New Zealand in February, with a second-string squad set to represent them.
