GG-W vs UPW-W, WPL 2025: Gujarat Giants women defeated UP Warriorz women by 6 wickets in match 3 of the Women's Premier League 2025 at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara on Sunday, February 16.

This was GG women's first win of the season as they came up with an improved effort after losing the first match of the season against the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

This is the first win for Gujarat Giants while chasing the target in the WPL in four matches.

Gujarat chased down the 144-run target in just 18 overs with Harleen Deol hitting the winning run. She remained unbeaten on 34 runs off 30 deliveries on the back of four boundaries whereas Deandra Dottin played an impactful unbeaten knock of 33 runs off just 18 deliveries. She smashed three fours and two sixes.

Skipper Ashleigh Gardner was the top run-getter for her side as she smashed her second successive fifty. She played a 52-run knock in just 32 balls with the help of five fours and three sixes.

Chasing the target, GG lost two early wickets as Beth Mooney (0) and Dayalan Hemalatha (0) departed cheaply. Laura Wolvaardt (22) and Gardner then recovered things and stitched a 55-run stand for the third wicket.

Deol and Dotting produced a remarkable 58-run stand for the fifth wicket to take their side over the line with no more hiccups.

"Very pleased, we weren't very far away in the other game. To play this brand of cricket and win today's game at home feels special. Our bowlers did a great job and someone like Priya Mishra taking 3 wickets in just her second WPL game was brilliant," Gardner said after being adjudged as the Player of the Match.

Earlier, Gujarat did well to restrict UP Warriorz to 143/9 in their 20 overs with Priya Mishra being the pick of the bowlers, taking three wickets whereas Gardner also found two scalps.

Deepti Sharma was the top run-getter for UP, scoring 39 runs in just 27 balls with the help of six fours.
