Women's Premier League 2025: The third season of the Women's Premier League is all set to kick off on Friday, February 14 and the matches will be played across four venues in Vadodara, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Lucknow.

The tournament will have the opening match between defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans at the Kotambi Stadium. RCB defeated Delhi Capitals by 8 wickets in the final last year to lift their maiden WPL title.

Smriti Mandhana will be leading the RCB team whereas Australia's senior all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner will be captaining the Giants for the first time, having replaced Beth Mooney for the role.

Harmanpreet Kaur’s Mumbai Indians became the champions of the first edition. They also defeated Delhi in the summit clash.

Let's take a look at the brief summary of the first two seasons of the Women's Premier League and the title-winning campaigns of MI and RCB.

WPL 2023

The inaugural season of WPL witnessed sheer dominance from MI as they kicked off their campaign with a monumental win by 143 runs over Gujarat Giants. They kept the winning run going in the next four games before suffering their first defeat of the season against UP Warriorz.

The Harmanpreet-led side lost the return fixture against Gujarat as well. They lost their penultimate league game against Delhi Capitals but managed to finish second in the standings with 12 points.

Mumbai were up against UP Warriorz in the Eliminator. Facing the opponents for the third time in the season, this time MI came up with an improved performance. Nat Sciver-Brunt's unbeaten 72-run knock helped MI score 182 runs. They went on to win the match by 72 runs.

On the other hand, DC topped the standings and reached the final where they met MI.

MI put up an excellent bowling show and restricted their opponents to 131 runs in the summit clash.

Nat Sciver-Brunt once again produced an impactful effort. The English all-rounder remained unbeaten at 60 while Harmanpreet Kaur contributed 37 to chase down the target in 19.3 overs.
