WTC Final Records, SA vs AUS: South Africa bagged their maiden World Test Championship title on Saturday with a famous five-wicket win over Australia in the final at the iconic Lord's. This was South Africa's first major title since 1998 as they put an end to the 27-year-long jinx.
South Africa became the third team after New Zealand and Australia to lift the WTC title. A several records were made and broken as Proteas wrapped things up well inside four days. Aiden Markram was the star performer for the Temba Bavuma-led side as he smashed a match-winning hundred in the second innings.
His 136-run knock on the back of 14 fours helped South Africa chase down the challenging 282-run target. This was South Africa's ninth consecutive Test win. This was the sixth time SA successfully chased down a 250-plus target in Tests, their fourth against Australia.
Apart from Markram, skipper Bavuma, Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, Marco Jansen and David Bedingham were the other impactful performers in the all-important final.
