JE Sports Desk: India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal carried his IPL form in the ongoing first Test against West Indies in Dominica as he smashed his maiden ton in his debut match on Thursday. The youngster dedicated his maiden Test feat to his parents and called it an 'emotional moment' to reach the three-figure mark in red-ball cricket.

Jaiswal is unbeaten on the crease on 143* with the help of 14 fours and will look to convert it to double hundred on Day 3 of the match. He also became the third opener after Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw to score a ton on debut Test.

The 21-year-old batter also scripted the highest opening partnership with skipper Rohit Sharma against West Indies with a stand of 229-run. Rohit departed after scoring 103 runs studded with two sixes and 10 fours off 221 balls.

Jaiswal thanked the management as well as the Indian captain for their support and asserted that there is more to come ahead.

"I think this is one of the emotional knock for me, it's difficult to get opportunities in the Indian team, I would like to thank everyone, the supporters, team management and Rohit Bhai. The pitch is on the slower side and the outfield is very slow, it was difficult and challenging, it was pretty hot and I wanted to keep doing it for my country, just play ball-by-ball and enjoy my cricket," Jaiswal said after stumps on Day 2.

The Southpaw admitted that he faced many challenges to make it to the Indian team and wants to make the most of the opportunity.

"I love Test cricket, I like this challenge, I enjoy the situation when the ball swings and seams. We have worked hard on everything, I've just gone out to express myself. Was an emotional moment (on his century), was just proud of myself, thankful for everyone, this is just a start and I want to do well going further," he added.

Jaiswal became the 17th player from India to score a century on his Test debut as India reached 312/3 in 113 overs at stumps on Day 2. Jaiswal (143*) and Virat Kohli (36*) are unbeaten on the crease. India are 162 runs ahead of West Indies' first innings total. The duo will look to further extend the team's lead on Friday with three days still left in the game.
