JE Sports Desk:  Yashasvi Jaiswal has been the man of the moment for his remarkable performance in his debut Test match against West Indies in Dominica as he smashed a century in his very first match for men in Blue.

The left-handed batter played an exceptional knock of 171 runs and helped India to gain a dominant position heading forward in the game. He added 229 runs for the first wicket with skipper Rohit Sharma who also brought his 10th century in the longer format.

His innings included 16 boundaries and a six.

With India kicking off their campaign in the third cycle of the World Test Championship, here are some feats Jaiswal has achieved on his Test debut.

 

Record openeing partnership with Rohit

After dismissing West Indies for just 150 runs, the Indian team was given a stunning start from the openers as Rohit and Jaiswal put up 229 runs for the opening wicket to surpass Virender Sehwag and Sanjay Bangar's record of highest opening partnership against West Indies


Test Century on Debut

Jaiswal reached his very first Test century on his debut to become the 17th Indian batter to do so and the fourth straight Indian batter from Mumbai to score a hundred on Test debut after Rohit Sharma, Prithvi Shaw, and Shreyas Iyer.

 

Jaiswal shines on Debut away from home

The young opener created a record when he reached the 150-run mark on Day 3 as he became the batter to score the highest individual score on debut in an overseas match.

He surpassed former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly's score of 131 runs which he scored at Lord's on his Test debut in 1996. Jaiswal now also is the fifth batter with the highest individual score on debut away from home.
