Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh came up with an interesting response when asked about one player he would pick to bat for his life.

Yuvraj ignored the likes of legendary cricketer and his former India teammate Sachin Tendulkar as well as Virat Kohli but instead picked Rohit Sharma for the same.

Yuvraj and Indian captain Rohit share a special bond and the former cricketer has often been seen praising the latter for his contribution to the game.

Like Tendulkar and Kohli, who are arguably the two greatest batters of all time, Rohit also has made a big name for himself. He recently led the Men in Blue to their second T20 World Cup title.

Rohit is only behind Sachin, Kohli, Rahul Dravid, and Sourav Ganguly in the list of leading run-scorers for India in international cricket.

Yuvraj was asked in an interview, “Which cricketer would you pick to bat for your life?” He mentioned Rohit’s name.

Rohit made his T20I debut for India in the T20 World Cup 2007 when Yuvraj was the vice-captain of the team.

His first match was against England at Kingsmead in Durban. However, he didn’t get a chance to bat in that match whereas Yuvraj created history in that match by smashing six sixes in an over.

Yuvraj was also asked to pick the better captain to play under between Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, and MS Dhoni during the same interview, and he picked Ganguly over the other two.

“They all have been captains, and I have played with Dhoni and Ganguly for a long time. But I think I started under Ganguly, so I would say Ganguly.”

Rohit will next be in action during the Test series against Bangladesh as he will be leading the side in both matches.

The first Test of the series is scheduled to be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai from September 19.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, will be heading into the all-important assignment on the back of their memorable Test series win in Pakistan.
