Day 4 of the second Test between India and West Indies saw rain shower interruptions throughout the day. Both teams made most of the limited duration of play to ensure they stayed in the game. During one of the rain interruptions, JioCinema Match Centre experts Zaheer Khan, Courtney Walsh, and Abhinav Mukund took viewers behind to scenes to reveal what happens in a dressing room during rain interruptions.
Khan revealed that players can’t stop playing cricket even in the rain, as he enjoyed playing tennis ball cricket in the dressing room, “If it’s a heavy shower and you’re going to just be sitting in the dressing room and can’t go out onto the field, you find different ways. You’ll see some indoor cricket with tennis balls, if a computer game is available, you just play. I remember playing plastic or tennis ball cricket to kill time in the dressing room.”
Playing more cricket wasn’t the remedy for everyone, as Khan revealed that VVS Laxman would use the time for a power nap, “I remember Laxman used to be very quick at going and finding his comfort corner and then he will be sleeping. If you’re good with that, you can do that as well.”

West Indies legend Courtney Walsh took us back in time to the dressing room of the 1980’s and 1990’s, by sharing anecdotes of his teammates who turned musicians in the dressing room, “We had people that would like bands. In our dressing room, we had Desmond Haynes, Richie Richardson, and Curtly Ambrose played in a band. Desmond was supposed to be the singer while Richard and Curtly played the guitar. There was always some hitting on the table with a knife or a fork to get a rhythm going.”
The final day of action will see West Indies try and chase down a target of 289 runs with eight wickets in hand to draw up level in the Test series. Kraigg Brathwaite and Kirk McKenzie lost their wickets at the end of Day 4 with Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Jermaine Blackwood on the crease to open Day 5. Mohammed Siraj was lethal against the team’s lower order in the first innings and will hope to replicate his quick five-wicket haul to cement the win for India.
