At the same time, the Mitchell Santner-led side began their stint on a high as they defeated South Africa by 21 runs during their series opener. Tim Robinson's match-winning unbeaten knock of 75 runs and Bevon Jacob's gritty knock of 44 runs helped the Black Caps helped the Black Caps post a respectable target of 173 runs. While chasing, South Africa were skittled out for just 152 runs.
