Delhi Air Pollution: The Delhi Transport Department issued a public notice on Saturday stating that any End- of-Life Vehicle parked or plying on the road will be scrapped without prior notice. The move aims to strictly enforce air pollution norms in the national capital.
Which Kind Of Vehicles Will Face Action
Diesel vehicles older than 10 years and petrol vehicles older than 15 years are classified as End-of-Life Vehicles (EOV). In its notice, the Transport Department requested owners of old vehicles to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) and move their vehicles out of the city.

The notice states, "Old vehicles with BS-III and lower emission standards plying in public places in Delhi will be seized and scrapped without prior notice as per the law. Owners of such vehicles are advised to obtain an NOC before moving them out of the NCR."
Transport Department officials said that a new campaign will soon be launched to remove such vehicles from the city.

"End-of-Life vehicles of BS-III and below emission norms found plying or parked in public places within Delhi shall be impounded and scrapped without further notice, in accordance with law. Owners of such vehicles are advised to obtain an NOC for transfer outside the NCR," the notice read.
Incentive To Promote Scrapping Of Old Vehicles
Earlier in October last year, the Delhi government said it would provide a 10-20 per cent tax rebate to buyers of new vehicles who opt to scrap their old ones. The government approved the incentive scheme to promote the scrapping of old vehicles and it will be notified soon, the statement said.
"The government will incentivise those who opt for the scrapping of their old vehicles, through a rebate in motor-vehicle tax on buying new vehicles within three years," said the Delhi government statement.
