During the auspicious days of Navratri, the Delhi government inaugurated several key projects for city residents, including the six-lane Nand Nagri flyover, aimed at easing traffic congestion in North East Delhi. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, PWD Minister Pravesh Verma, and MP Manoj Tiwari presided over the inauguration on Sunday.
The 1.5-kilometre-long flyover, connecting Nand Nagri to Gagan Cinema and Delhi to Ghaziabad, was approved by the Delhi government's Finance and Expenditure Committee in September 2022, with construction beginning in February 2023. Built for Rs 175 crore, the flyover is expected to save commuters an average of 15 minutes daily.

Speaking at the inauguration, CM Rekha Gupta said, “On the occasion of Seva Pakhwada, the Yamuna par area has received another significant gift today. This flyover will allow lakhs of vehicles to pass smoothly every day, making life easier for families in the region. This project, pending for years, was completed in just seven months, reflecting the BJP government’s speed, determination, and good governance.”
BJP MP Manoj Tiwari added, “This flyover benefits the people of Delhi under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi. Work was delayed earlier due to tree-cutting restrictions, pollution, and GRAP implementation, but the project is now complete. For every tree cut, 20 new trees will be planted.”
The flyover is a key step in the overall development of North East Delhi, reducing traffic jams and providing smoother commutes for lakhs of residents. Alongside this, the government has allocated Rs 1,000 crore each to the Yamunapar Development Board and the Rural Development Board to further strengthen infrastructure and public services.
