In a major initiative to support working mothers, the Delhi government on Friday launched 502 PalnaGhar-cum-Creche centers across the city. The centers were virtually inaugurated by Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annapurna Devi, Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra, and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta during a program at a municipal school in New Ashok Nagar as part of the ongoing Seva Pakhwada (Service Fortnight).
A Model For The Country
Delhi CM Rekha Gupta described the launch as a "historic step" for women's empowerment and child safety, specifically aimed at supporting working and labor-class women. She stated that the Delhi government intends to present this initiative as a model for the entire country, establishing the Palna-Anganwadi as a one-stop center for childcare. In a unique move, the crèche workers will be known as 'Mausi' (maternal aunt), a term chosen to signify "a woman who gives mother-like love."
"The government will ensure that no child remains unsafe and every mother can fulfil her employment and responsibilities without worry," Gupta said. She also announced a significant push for female entrepreneurship, stating that the government will provide collateral-free MSME loans of up to Rs 10 crore to women.

Creche Facilities And Union Minister's Message
The newly launched centers will care for children aged 6 months to 6 years, providing them with nutritious food, early education, and supervised play. To ensure safety, the facilities will be equipped with security guards and CCTV cameras, which will be monitored directly by the government.
Union Minister Annapurna Devi praised the initiative, calling the Anganwadi-cum-Creche centers a great support system for working women. She urged the newly designated 'Mausis' to look after the children with affection and responsibility, recognizing the faith that mothers place in them.
