Ahead of the vote counting on Wednesday, the BJP held nine of the 12 wards where polling took place on November 30, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) held the remaining three seats.

The MCD by-elections recorded a low voter turnout of 38.51 per cent. This marks a significant decline compared to the 50.47 per cent turnout recorded during the previous MCD elections held across 250 wards in 2022.

The SEC had set up 10 designated counting centres at Kanjhawala, Pitampura, Bharat Nagar, Civil Lines, Rouse Avenue, Dwarka, Najafgarh, Gole Market, Pushp Vihar and Mandawali. For the vote counting, nearly 700 personnel were deployed to manage and provide necessary facilities for the candidates.

The strong rooms where the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) were kept were under stringent security, featuring 24/7 CCTV surveillance and deployment of paramilitary and Delhi Police forces.
